Get badged! Get properly recognised for your sales capabilities

There is nothing like that feeling of accomplishment, especially when we’ve stepped outside our comfort zone and learnt something new, challenged our abilities, or put the work in to better ourselves and attain levels of mastery in core disciplines and reap the rewards.

Independently, people undertake learning via self-study or courses to better themselves every day, whether it’s for work, career, or just personal interest. Some get university degrees or certificates to validate their study and accomplishments.

However, many of us participate in courses and programs offered by our organisations or we might do some online course to better ourselves but how many times do we get to receive a recognised credential to demonstrate and validate our learning and acquired capabilities?

Since 1995, Barrett has been helping people and businesses sell better now and for a sustainable future. Much of the work we do to help our clients and their people achieve sales mastery is through designing and delivering relevant and highly effective learning programs (classroom, virtual, online, in-field) that help their people deliver real and sustainable sales outcomes and great client experiences.

Our training and development programs help people sell better, faster by focusing on core skills, behaviours, knowledge, values, and mindsets that can be learned and applied over and over again. Many of the capabilities and competencies we train and coach to are soft skills that, as we know, are often the hardest to master.

Many technical courses, whilst often challenging, have been much easier to assess and credentialise.

So how do people who work in sales, client-facing roles and other human-to-human work demonstrate and get recognised for their capabilities and competencies when it comes to achieving human-centred sales and service mastery? Where are the verified credentials for sales and soft skills?

For too long, sales and service capabilities have gone unrecognised – seen as more personality driven than capability and competency driven. Yes, we managed to get Selling its first ever university qualification in 2012 which was a huge achievement, however, getting the vital life and business skills of sales and service validated at a regular course and micro-credential level has been our quest for many years. We understand the power and importance of people being recognised for their capabilities and ongoing quest for mastery.

The good news is things have changed on the sales, service, and human communications front.

We are proud to announce that we have partnered with Credly -the world’s largest and most connected digital credential network- to provide Digital Credentials for all our courses* for all levels of sales and service, and all the way through to sales management and leadership. We can translate the learning outcomes and verified skills your team can demonstrate into a portable, data-rich, and verified badges with a digital credential that speaks a common language of verified knowledge, skills, and abilities. Now that is worth something.

What are digital credentials (or badges)?

Think about all the achievements you’ve earned in your lifetime: completing a certification or training program, joining a professional association, getting a degree, or receiving recognition at work for a job well done, a digital credential pulls these achievements out of your home, your computer, or the registrar’s office to show people what you know and can demonstrate.

Digital Credentials:
  • Work as an incentive to complete training programs and develop ongoing mastery
  • Provide a fairer assessment of a person’s capabilities making it easier to apply for or be
selected for relevant roles across an organisation
  • Incorporate and encourage a more applied and fairer coaching culture
  • Demonstrate an organisation’s commitment to developing their people to a minimum
    standards of excellence
  • Create opportunities for individuals to get jobs, and to advance in the workforce without bias, by validating learning in a verified, secure way
  • Provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what the badge earner had to do to earn the credential(s) and what they are now capable of.

Digital credentials transform knowledge, skills, and abilities into a common, verified language that empowers organisations to make more informed decisions about their teams’ career advancement and job promotions, further training and development needs, and clear minimum standards of excellence.

If you want to transform the value of learning inside your organisation talk to us. We will work with your organisation to design and deliver the training and development that your teams and leaders need and as part of this process we will help you establish ‘badge earning criteria’ for all the right reasons.

*Earning criteria apply.

Remember, everybody lives by selling something.
