Psychometric Assessment Tools
BARRETT has a range of products aimed at helping individuals and organisations to assess and develop their people. Some are assessments and questionnaires that accurately measure the aptitude, ability and capability of an individual or team. Some are single page questionnaires and on-line surveys, others are more extensive.
These products have been developed over many years and are based on sound psychological and scientific principles. They can help organisations assess specific criteria related to career development, performance management and development and recruitment and selection procedures.
The BARRETT range of products includes:
Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence refers to the capacity to deal effectively with one's own and others emotions. When applied to the workplace, emotional intelligence is about thinking intelligently with emotions; perceiving, expressing, understanding and managing emotions in a professional and effective manner at work.
Conforming to best practice, BARRETT sources psychometric assessments from a range of test publishers. In doing so we can ensure we can select the right tool for each project without the commercial pressures normally associated with exclusive supplier / distributor arrangements
Aptitude and Ability Tests
Timed assessments designed to measure general reasoning abilities (verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning) or job specific aptitudes (e.g. decision making, clerical checking etc.).
Values and Motives
The
Values and Motives Inventory (VMI) is a self-report questionnaire which profiles the motivating forces that are expected to determine the amount of energy or effort that an individual is likely to spend in particular activities. It is useful in directing individuals into areas where they are likely to gain most satisfaction and make the greatest contribution.
Team Work and Communication
Team Management Index (TMI)
Barrett Consulting Group works with the Team Management Index (TMI) and associated assessment tools to pinpoint the type of work towards which people naturally gravitate. The TMI focuses on the
way a person relates to others; gathers information; makes decisions; and organises themselves and others.
A profile on each team member provides valuable information about strengths and weaknesses and the person's role as a team member. The profile is helpful not only for team selection, but in facilitating personal development and providing a focus to strategies for team development. It also indicates in which strength a team may be lacking.
The Team Management Wheel shows the eight roles needed by a balanced team:
- Reporter Adviser - gathers information and expresses it in an easily understandable form.
- Creator Innovator - enjoys thinking up new ideas and ways of doing things.
- Explorer Promoter - takes ideas and promotes them to others.
- Assessor Developer - takes ideas and develops them.
- Thruster Organiser - makes things happen, emphasising targets, deadlines and budgets.
- Concluder Producer - progresses the tasks so that outputs are achieved, according to plan.
- Controller Inspector - concerned with the details, and adhering to the rules and regulations.
- Upholder Maintainer - provides guidance and help in meeting standards.
